behind...

Well, I have been behind in my blogging these last few months, six to be exact. I've been adjusting to corporate America, a new house, planning a wedding, and training a puppy, BUT now I can't use that as an excuse anymore. Tim is blogging more than me on our website http://sam-and-tim.com and that is pathetic. I think I have done two maybe three posts on there (one being just barely). I like blogging, even if no one reads my blog except my Mom and Dad, it's really fun to go back and read my posts.

Here is quick update from the past three months:
-went to Lady Gaga with my sister, great concert until the end when I learned general admission is NOT for me.
-survived our first winter in our new house
-survived the "busy time" at work and just finished up Q1.
-took on additional responsibilities at work for the Health and Beauty/Relationships team starting in January at work
-went to Disneyland for my birthday (previous post)
-went to the Channel Islands
-slacked BIG time on Tuesday Date Night with Tim
-watched the ENTIRE third season of Jersey Shore
-bought my wedding dress. It's a Sophia Tolli and absolutely beautiful (it looks better on me than the model)
-reserved a photographer for our wedding and shot our engagements (Jesse Erasmus)
-picked out Bridesmaid's dresses from David's Bridal and had to battle them with Katie when they told us that dresses wouldn't be available until six days AFTER the wedding
-mailed out save the date cards (only to the ceremony guests, so reception guests don't be worried)
-Tim made sushi for Valentine's Day - delicious
-Tim and I celebrated our three year anniversary March 8 - we did absolutely nothing except hand made cards, possibly one of my favorite anniversaries, just us none of that cliche/big date stuff
-I bought Insanity and realized I like it, but not six days a week and decided to do it twice a week and interchange it with the gym
-picked a beautiful four-tier wedding cake with two flavors, almond and raspberry swirl. We will have have fresh cut flowers on our cake.
-registered at Bed Bath and Beyond for the wedding. That took much longer than we anticipated
-Tim got a great job. He was recruited by a company called Property Solutions. After some disappointing changes in his department he was definitely ready to move on. Not only did he get a nice pay increase, but he is doing exactly what he wanted to be doing, Senior UX Designer. His first big project is designing an iPad app for the company.

This is what is coming up the next 10 weeks:
-Salt Lake Half Marathon April 16
-florist for the wedding
-wedding final details at Millcreek Inn
-Tulip Festival with Mom and sister
-First camping trip of 2011 (with Bruce! I have been dying to go out hiking and camping. Some of my favorite memories with Tim are camping and hiking adventures)
-going to New York for a week in work for May Market
-Strut your Mutt
-Bridal Shower by my beautiful aunt and cousins
-JCK show in Vegas for work
-Bachelorette party in Denver OR San Diego...more details to come
-Shopping/planning for our honeymoon in Costa Rica
and last but not least....GETTING MARRIED June 10 at Millcreek Inn and honeymoon after!

A lot has been going on. Work has been very busy, but I really enjoy my job. Starting this week I am getting trained for additional responsibilities at work (Associate Buyer - next level). No promotion sadly, but taking on more responsibility to prepare me for next level since our Associate Buyer got promoted, but we are not filling the position. I've learned so much about jewelry, buying, merchandising, supply chain management, you name it. Work has been great and hopefully stays that way :) I also can't complain about the 10 minute commute. East Sandy to Cottonwood Heights...not too bad of a drive.

I am getting so excited to get married. Everything with the wedding has been so laid back and easy. I know exactly what I want and I am getting everything I want. A nice intimate ceremony at Millcreek Inn with family and close friends followed by a nice plated dinner. A big reception to follow with dancing and the rest of our friends. Up until the past few weeks the wedding has seemed surreal. Yeah we're getting married, but we are already living together in our own house and we've been planning for the wedding, but it hasn't seemed really "wedding-ish" until today. I realized "We are getting married! Legally we will be recognized as man and wife." I am so excited. Tim and I were in no rush to get married, we knew we wanted to, but we wanted to wait until the right time. Sure we might have done things backwards like buying a house before getting married and getting a dog, but we were engaged and everything was the right time. We are just like every other couple, we have our ups and downs. We fight, we make up, we love each other dearly. I couldn't imagine my life without him and I am so excited for that special day that will be ours. I am most looking forward to that moment when I walk out of Millcreek, under the gazebo and see him standing and waiting me at the the end of the aisle. For that split second when I first see him that moment will be ours to remember forever.

I'm not one to get mushy and gushy in my blog, so don't expect much more, HA! As for everything else, I will make sure to blog once every week or so, even if its just some ramblings about current events or thoughts I'm having.

Until then....stay classy San Diego (yes I watched part of Anchorman today).
